About LCAVFD

The purpose of LCAVFD is...

to promote the safety and well-being of the citizens of rural Lauderdale County, Alabama by promoting the development and continued operation of quality fire protection and life-saving public safety services by each of its 14 member departments, sharing its ideas and techniques with other member Departments, and to provide a representative of the Members in all phases of County Government. Other purposes include:

 

  • Promoting the orderly and necessary formation of volunteer fire Departments and assist in the continued operation of existing Departments in Lauderdale County, Alabama.

  • Aiding in the continued training of volunteer fire fighters and to cause the upgrading of the Members and the volunteer fire Departments.

  • Creating an increased awareness by the general public of the work and purpose of volunteer fire Departments.

  • Promoting public safety by creating increased awareness by the general public of fire hazards in both public and private buildings, and to assist in the removal of those fire hazards by better informing the public about the prevention and suppression of fires.

  • Representing the volunteer firefighters in Lauderdale County by informing elected government officials of the needs, efforts, and views of the Association’s member Departments and to protect and enhance public funding required to continue the effective service of those Departments.

  • Promoting the compliance of member Departments with the most current edition of the National Fire Protection Agency’s Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations, and Special Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire Departments (NFPA 1720).
